Jose Callejon could remain at Napoli after all, with reports of advanced negotiations for a two-year contract extension.
The winger had been on his way out, with lucrative offers on the table from China ready to tempt him away.
His current deal is due to expire at the end of this season and President Aurelio De Laurentiis was not prepared to keep him on the same salary once he turns 33 in February.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the situation has changed following Carlo Ancelotti’s dismissal and the hiring of Gennaro Gattuso.
Now Callejon is leaning towards accepting a new two-year contract worth €3m per season.
Dries Mertens is in a similar situation and his negotiations could also take a new twist following Ancelotti’s ousting.
