President Muhammadu Buhari has charged security agencies in the country to do more in order to check the growing rate of violence in the country.
The President spoke on Sunday while reacting to the killing of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State, Chief Philip Shekwo.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari condemned the killing of Shekwo, whose contributions to the strengthening of the APC he acknowledged.
The President welcomed the decision of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to send reinforcement of men and materials to the state.
He commiserated with the family of the deceased, saying: “I strongly condemn the killing of Philip Shekwo. He was kind and jovial. His contribution towards strengthening the party in Nasarawa State will not be forgotten…”
