Budgam Police crack I-Day grenade attack case

SRINAGAR: Budgam Police in a statement on Saturday said they have cracked the grenade attack case on August 15 at Gopalpora, Chadoora, in which a man from the minority community,

, was wounded. Two terrorists of The Resistance Force, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, have been arrested in this connection.

, said the statement. Police soon recovered CCTV footage that revealed the involvement of two scooty-borne terrorists in the crime. Several suspects were picked up for questioning and upon further investigation, police received information about one

Sahil was subsequently arrested.

On questioning,


admitted to having perpetrated the attack along with Altaf Farooq alias Amir, the main conspirator. Police then carried out raids and arrested Altaf. Cops also seized a hand grenade, TRF posters along with other incriminating materials from him. The scooty used in the crime was also seized, police said.

“Altaf was also found involved in illegally transferring money, besides receiving and distributing funds from Lashkar-e-Taiba,” the statement said.

More arrests and recoveries are expected, police said.
