Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has addressed speculations that he declared interest in the 2023 presidential race.

He said the rumour was not true in a statement sent to Legit.ng by Laolu Akande, his spokesman on Monday, May 17.

According to Osinbajo’s spokesman, the attention of the vice president’s office has been drawn to a website:supportosinbajo.ng calling on Nigerians to join a volunteer group mobilising support ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

He explained that the vice president is not in any way connected to this website or the group that is currently trending on WhatsApp with a suggestion that Osinbajo has “quietly” declared interest.

Akande said Osinbajo considers such an enterprise an unnecessary distraction, adding that he is rather focused on working in his capacity as vice president in the current administration to address all the compelling issues in the country.

He urged the people to desist from such unhelpful permutations.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that young Nigerians on the platform of Youths Earnestly Demand For Goodluck E.Jonathan (YED4GEJ 2023) have called on Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to contest for the presidency.

The group’s national chairman, Prince Teddy Omiloli alongside its director of operations, Comrade Douye Daniel, on Sunday, May 16, expressed certainty that the former president has the solutions to the country’s many predicaments.

YED4GEJ 2023 described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate in the 2015 election as a true democrat, a nation builder, and a goal-oriented leader with integrity.
