VCU guard Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland dazzled scouts and executives on Thursday during the first scrimmage game at the NBA draft combine in Chicago, Illinois.

Hyland produced a game-high 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and one steal in 23 minutes on the court. He finished the first scrimmage game by shooting 7-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

His 17 points led all scorers after the first two scrimmage games.

The 6-foot-3 product did the majority of his work early, pouring in 15 points in the first quarter alone. From his shooting to his ability to penetrate into the paint and finish, Hyland had seemingly every tool at his disposal working and likely had the best day of any prospect.

Hyland was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year after averaging 19.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He scored 30 or more points on three occasions last season and was in double figures in 22 of 23 contests.

The 20-year-old entered the combine projected by most to be an early second-round pick but some believe he may have played his way into the first round behind his strong effort on Thursday. He certainly impressed those watching and that will only help his draft stock moving forward.

The NBA draft is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 29.
