A Divisional Police Officer and an Inspector have been gunned down by suspected bandits in Sokoto State.
The hoodlums stormed the Divisional Police Headquarters in Gidan Madi, Tangaza Local Government Area and went for the divisional police officer, killing him instantly, it was learnt.
The gunmen, who entered Gidan Madi community about 10pm on Wednesday, also shot and killed an inspector whose name was given as Aliyu Bello.
Sources said the bandits, who came in large numbers, were shooting intermittently in the air as they approached the divisional headquarters.
Police spokesman Abubakar Sadik, a Deputy Superintendent, said the command had launched an investigation into the attack.
