The Yobe State Police Command has tasked security stakeholders to put all hands on deck to forestall security breaches before, during and after the Sallah celebrations in the state.

The Command gave the charge in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim and made available to DAILY POST in Damaturu.

The statement also urged the good people of the state to eschew unfounded rumours that result in unnecessary panic as was recently experienced in the state

“Recently, the Command’s attention was drawn to an unfounded rumour which was said to have originated from Kalallawa Village in Damaturu, that female suicide bombers have been dispatched to the state by Boko Haram elements to detonate improvised explosive devices in public places.

“This is not true, as the Village Head (Lawan) of Kalallawa has debunked the rumour”, it said.

However, the command in the statement said it has emplaced all necessary measures to protect lives and property before, during and after the Sallah celebrations, noting that this cannot be achieved without the full cooperation of everyone in the state.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Abubakar who congratulated Muslim faithful in the state for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, reiterated his commitment to the fight against crime in the state.

He equally urged indigenes to be security conscious, vigilant and report all suspicious movement(s), person(s), object(s) or gathering(s) to the nearest police station or nearby formation.

“If you see something, say something”, he advised.
