Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang missed a couple of chances during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Benfica but the Gabonese striker has tendered his apologies to fans, Mirror.
The north London club should have buried the game but hold an away goal advantage going into the second leg at the Emirates.
Hector Bellerin released a beautiful pass across to Aubameyang and all he needed to do was to apply a simple tap-in to put his side ahead in the 19th minute.
But the 31-year-old spurned the chance from close range which should have put Mikel Arteta’s side ahead.

After the game Aubameyang posted on his Twitter handle:
“We deserved better and i should Score couple goals today but still one Game to Go we keep going. Well done @BukayoSaka87.”

Aubameyang rediscovered his scoring form as netted a hat-trick against Leeds United in Sunday’s 4-2 win.
Arteta was pleased with what he saw from his striker despite failing to find the back off the net against the Portuguese side.
“He was at the end of the biggest chances that we had tonight.
“He was a real threat again that’s why we played him today against this opponent with the line that they proposed all the time.”
