Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon become the largest political party in Africa.

The Kogi state governor also said developed nations will come learning the ropes of progressive politics from the party soon.

A statement from the APC seen by Legit.ng noted that Bello made the comment when he spoke at the inauguration of the mobilisation committee for the party’s membership registration/revalidation exercise on Tuesday, January 12.

The party’s leadership appointed Governor Bello to lead the committee while his Ogun state counterpart, Dapo Abiodun will serve as the deputy.

Bello said:

“By the time we are done with the registration of new members and revalidation of existing members in the country, APC will not just be the largest in Africa, but we are going to call on even the developed nations to come and learn not only from Nigeria, but from the APC in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Governor Bello’s name keeps coming up repeatedly as one of those likely to contest the 2023 presidential election.

Recently, campaign posters of the Kogi state governor carrying inscriptions of his rumoured presidential ambition surfaced on some major roads in Kano state.

The posters were pasted at strategic locations in the state, including parts of Murtala Muhammad Way, Airport road, and Sani Marshal road.

Recall that all members of the Kogi state House of Assembly recently called on Governor Bello to put his hat in the ring for the presidency in 2023.

According to the lawmakers, the governor ticked all the right boxes for the presidential seat and should be backed by all Nigerians to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.

Before then, the Kogi state commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo, had announced on social media that Governor Bello was under pressure to contest the 2023 presidential race.

The commissioner went on to say the desire of Nigerians for a great country aligns with that of Governor Bello.
