In a short interview with the BBC News Pidgin, the boy said what he loves about chess is the king, because it is powerful and he is the ruler over others.

The founder of Chess in the slum, Tunde Onakoya, said that when they took the game to his area some weeks ago, his peers would allow him entrance because of his condition.

Jesuwame said he could not send him to children because she had spent much on his sickness, making her financially incapable to foot any other bill.

The mother revealed that Ferdinand always tells her about his dream of becoming a doctor and traveling to London.

She disclosed that so the kid has gone to school, he is always curious about learning things as he pays close attention to people doing the same thing.

Ferdinand’s mother said she is happy that his child met Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, adding that he had gotten to where they could not.
