The presidential spokesman who made the disclosure during an interview on Channels TV’s political programme, Sunday Politics, described the claims as an old story.

He noted that previous presidents such as Olusegun Obasanjo, late Musa Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan face similar accusations, adding that it is not new.

Shehu said:

“Let me tell you, this is an old story, was Obasanjo accused of this, didn’t they accuse late Yardua and Mr Jonathan? Look Nigerians will accuse every government that comes into place of nepotism. In fact so long as they were not appointed themselves as individuals, they will be crying ethnicity and religion. So this is nothing new.”
