A Nigerian man identified as Julius Obiefuna Obiwulu is being deported from Bali, Indonesia, after letting his visa expire during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 34-year-old man was detained by immigration officers on Thursday, November 12, when he could not provide a valid visa, The Bali Sun reports.
According to the public relations minister of Bali law and human rights, Putu Surya Dharma, the Nigerian man did not attempt to extend his visa that expired on February 1, 2020.
Julius was planning to apply for another visa to go to Timor-Leste.
The Nigerian national, who arrived in Indonesia to attend a friend’s wedding in 2019, is currently in the detention room of the Denpasar immigration office, awaiting deportation to his home country.
Julius Obiefuna Obiwulu is being deported in Indonesia for not renewing his expired visa.

In a similar news, in a move that many Nigerians will respect, the Nigerian federal government has approved the deportation of 10 Egyptians and seven Sri-Lankans.
Sunday James, the public relations officer, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), disclosed this in a statement on Friday, September 25.

According to him, the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, signed the deportation order in pursuant to section 45, subsection 2, section 46, subsection 1 and section 47, subsection 1 of the Nigeria Immigration Act 2015.
He further stated that the 10 Egyptians had violated the conditions for their entry and the minister had ordered their deportation with immediate effect.
