Sports Minister, Eminent People Storm Okpekpe for VIP Race Tomorrow

Sports Minister,  Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, is expected to lead the train of eminent Nigerians to the   Okpekpe 10km International Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 4.
Director of Organisation of the race, Zack Amodu, confirmed yesterday that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed D. Abubakar is also going to compete in the VIP One Kilometre Race along side the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole.
Also listed two  renowned journalists,  the Managing Director of THISDAY  newspapers, Eniola Bello and the Managing Director of The Nation newspapers, Victor Ifijeh, among the eminent Nigeria who have registered to participate in the 1km VIP Race in Okpekpe.
Meanwhile, telecommunication giant, Globacom Limited has thrown its weight behind the race that has attracted some of the best road runners in the continent.
 A statement issued in Lagos by Globacom stated that it was happy to be a part of  the Okpekpe Road Race as  the official telecoms partner..
“Globacom is partnering  the organisers of the Okpekpe Road Race because we will always support any venture that will lead to the development of   human mind’’.
While reiterating Globacom’s commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria, the statement added that “the company is not new to an event like this as we have over the years sponsored the Glo – Lagos International Half Marathon and other sporting activities across the world.
 “With every sense of modesty, we wish to say that our support for sports in Nigeria is not only legendary but unprecedented. We are the official sponsors of the Nigerian national football teams.  Not quite long ago, the Dream Team of the Glo Soccer Academy was in Manchester, United Kingdom on a training tour.
” We promise to continue to support sports in Nigeria and the Okpekpe Road Race is one of such initiatives deserving of support by well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies,” the statement added.
Organized by Pamodzi Sports Marketing with the full support of the Edo State Government and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, the Okpekpe Road Race will be covered live by SuperSport pay TV channel  and Africa Independent Television (AIT).
