The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been described as a visionary, dynamic, and compassionate leader, who is strong-willed to take the State to the promised land, in spite of obvious challenges.
A cross section of people who were at the train station to appreciate the beautification works going on at the Osogbo Railways Station, in Osogbo, the state capital on Thursday made this assertion while fielding questions from Bioreports.
One of the visitors, Olumide Adefolaju, asserted that Governor Aregbesola has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is a gift from God to the State of Osun with his vision that has brought tangible development to the state.
Adefolaju stated that his visit to the Railways Station came on the heels of the report he watched on television yesterday when the Governor and members of his team came to inspect the ongoing work in the place, adding that he was totally dumbfounded to see the new look of the place.
“As I said earlier, we came to see all these beautifications that is ongoing here, when we were watching the news yesterday, we were like asking ourselves, is this place within Osogbo metropolis? We said no, until when we see it ourselves.”. Abiola Oyeyinka, another visitor, who was highly delighted said, the modernization of the Railways will help to resuscitate the interest of the people in the rail services.
Oyeyemi explained that the administration of Aregbesola has change the old face of Osogbo Railway Station to a modern one through beautification of the surroundings, construction of pedestrian bridge, provision of street light, construction of access road, construction of police station and a mosque.
”We are experiencing what they call good governance, we are experiencing what they call accountability and probity, in fact this new look will surely serve as an impetus to motivate people to patronize rail services in the state.”, he said.
Oyeyinka therefore charged other political office holders both in and outside the state to emulate the determination, sincerity and clarity of purpose of Aregbesola geared towards bringing the much-needed dividend of democracy to the citizenry.
Another visitor, Bukola Olawumi, a student of Osun State University, said Aregbesola and members of his team have recorded remarkable achievements apart from the beautification of the Railway Station, the youth empowerment scheme that employed thousands of the youths in the state is nothing but a novel idea to tackle youth unemployment.
Olawumi stressed that a government that pumps 200 million naira as stipends to support youths under the OYES programme monthly, deserves commendation in view of the serious nature of youth unemployment.
In her own view, Mrs. Ramota Ogunbanbo, a trader at the railways station, commended Aregbesola and gave him a pat on the back for turning the station around for the benefit of Osun people.
Ogunbanbo stated that, market women around where the project on-going now enjoys more patronage than before, adding that this was as result of the workers at the site.
She promised to vote with her conscience so that the good works now going on across the state can continue beyond 2014.
