Police to grill PDP youth leader, Austin Okai over alleged N200m bribe
The National Coordinator, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Frontier, Austin Okai is to report before the Kogi State Police command today 13th October, 2017, over a petition filed against him by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The State House of Assembly had earlier petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Department of State Services (DSS) over an allegation credited to Austin Okai that the house approved N10billion loan request from the executive and later collected N200million bribe from governor Yahaya Bello for approving the said loan.
According to the letter dated 11th October 2017, signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Investment Department DCP. Ibrahim Umar, and received by Okai’s counsels J.S. Okutepa (SAN), the letter noted that the petition was against cyberstalking activities engaged by Okai which was contrary to the cybercrimes Prohibitions Prevention Act, 2015.
Received on the 12th of October 2017, at exactly 9:30am, the invitation letter reads in part ” Re: Petition against Cyberstalking activities of Mr Usman Okai Austin against the Government and Officials of Kogi State of Nigeria Contrary to the Cybercrimes ( Prohibition, Prevention, e.t.c) Act, 2015.
“This office is investigating the above stated case against one Usman Okai Austin who is your client who is currently standing trial in a similar case before the Federal High Court, Lokoja.
“You are kindly requested to prevail on the said Usman Okai Austin to report to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge state CIID, Lokoja on 13th October, 2017 at 1000Hour to respond to allegation against him. Your cooperation in this regards will be highly appreciated.”
