The Government of the State of Osun under leadership of Ogbeni Aregbesola has explained the reason why it marked all structure within 30metre setback along Alekuwodo and Ogbagba streams in Osogbo for separation, saying that it was done to prevent flooding in the area which can lead to the loss of lives and property.
Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning and Urban Development, Architect Muyiwa Ige made this declaration on Thursday at the Quarterly Ministerial Media Conference, organized by the Ministry of Information and Strategy, at Abere , Osogbo.
Ige said, the State Government through his Ministry marked all the structures built on the streams within the flood plain for separation so as to curb reoccurrence of flood incident in the state.
Ige commended Governor Aregbesola, on his efforts to ensure that cases of flood totally become a thing of the past in the state
He added that, the structures within right-of-way along Olaiya/ MDS road, Osogbo were also marked for separation, the exercise according to him was done to allow the expansion and improvement of existing road for the benefit of the people of Osogbo and the entire State of Osun at large.
On the issue of compensation, Ige said that compensation will be based on acquisition of the land which government considered suitable for any construction or structure.
Speaking on the lease of land, Commissioner said ,in order to make Osun more viable economically, the state governor has allocated 13.171 hectares of land located along Osogbo-Ido-Osun road to Odua Investment Company Limited for the construction of a Modern Multi-purpose commercial centre called Aje Market.
Also, Edward Property Consult was allocated 7.336 hectares of land at Old Governor’s Office, along Osogbo/Gbongan Road for construction of Ayegbaju Modern Market. While Sam and Sara Ventures Limited was allocated 4024.115 square metres of land at Abere, along Gbongon Road for the construction of an Ultra-Modern Garment factory which according to him shall provide free uniforms for pupils of public schools in the State of Osun.
Others are, Omoluabi Hotel Development and Leisure Services Limited which was allotted the total 7.08 hectares of land ,within the Commercial Layout/Golf Centre along Gbongan Road. WEMABOD Estates Limited, allotted 20 hectares of land within Osun G.R.A, Gbongan Road to provide affordable housing units which will support housing programme of the present administration.
Ige further explained that 53.932 hectares of land was also allocated to Industrial and General Insurance (IGI)Plc. within Commercial Layout/Golf Centre, Osun GRA, Gbongan Road, for the construction of Standard International Hotel and a modern Golf Course among other beneficiaries.
