Osun Local Governments To Construct 218 Km Roads At N16.2B
The roads are to be constructed across thirty local government areas and one area council of the entire state.
Tagged 10km roads per local government, the project, which total cost stood at N16.21bn, is entirely a local government financed project but coordinated and implemented in conjunction with the state government.
Aregbesola said there will be no excuse for any contractor not to perform and deliver on as and when due because all of them would be adequately mobilised as from first week of January 2013.
The road, which is longer than Lagos – Ibadan Expressway that the PDP led federal government has been battling with for more than five years is billed to be completed across all the local governments between March and September 2013.
According to the Governor the roads have been awarded to the best and competent contractors through due process.
“What we are doing today is to tell the people through the flag-off that the road project is entirely the brainchild of the local government councils.
“The state government only partnered with them in the area of coordinating implementation and execution of the projects.
“What our administration is demonstrating with this road project is to tell the people that not all politicians are wasteful with regards to resource management,” Aregbesola said.
