The Government of the State of Osun has awarded the dualization of 30km Gbongan-Akoda Omoluabi Motorway to the contractor for N29.23bilion.
The contract sum which also includes the construction of Chief Bisi Akande Trumpet Bridge at Gbongan junction was part of the efforts of the present administration to turn the state to a role model among its peers in Nigeria in the area of massive good road network in all its geo-political zones.
The road project was awarded to RATCON Construction Nigeria Limited.
Performing the signing of the contract agreement on behalf of the state government, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Transport, Engineer Oladepo Amuda, said that the contractor is ready to finance the project on behalf of the State Government with agreement of 38 months repayment.
He said that the state government would mobilize the company with 15 percent of contract sum which will be paid in two tranches.
According to him, “the 30km dual-carriage way that will be completed within 18months will include trumpet bridges, at Gbongan junction, four pedestrian bridge, street light, two layers of asphaltic surface with 6omm and 40mm thickness, reinforce concrete side drain, culverts and ditches, reinforce retaining wall, earthwork, landscaping and road marking and signs”.
Amuda stressed further that the road that could last for more than 30years life span will definitely enhance the socio-economic development of the state.
He, therefore, advised the construction company to follow the instruction given to it by the state Ministry of Works with regard to good quality job delivery which should be completed at the stipulated time.
The Special Adviser used the occasion to commend the present administration led by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for embarking on monumental and massive roads constructions across the state, stressing that the people of the state should continue to support the current administration to achieve the desired success in its policies.
Responding on behalf of the company, the duo of Engineer Dany Michael and Mr. Alao Bashiru expressed appreciation to the government for giving them the opportunity to be part of the moving train in the area of rehabilitation and construction of roads since the inception of the present administration and promised to deliver on time and according to specifications.
