The Mid-Regional Market and Warehouse, tagged O’ HUB being constructed by the Aregbesola administration is in furtherance of efforts to jump-start the economy of the state.
Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Ismaila Jayeoba-Alagbada ,made this declaration on Friday at the ongoing Quarterly Ministerial Media Briefing, organized by Ministry of Information and Strategy, at Abere, Osogbo.
Alagbada stated that the creation of Mid-Regional Market and Warehousing (O’ HUB) which is located beside Dagbolu Railways Station would boost the economy of the state and return Osun to its enviable status as entrepot of trade and commerce in the South-West.
On the issue of modernization and rehabilitation of Osogbo Railway Station as part of the Six-Point Integral Action of Governor Aregbesola, Alagbada insisted that the government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that the Osogbo Railway Station Terminus becomes the best among its peers in the country.
According to him, the facelift at the Osogbo Railway station includes beautification, construction of access roads and pedestrian bridge, extension of platform, provision of warehouse, provision of street light, construction police station and a Mosque.
Others are, construction of bye-pass from old garage to MDS, rehabilitation of Railway station’s building and other civil works at the station.
Alagbada said the first phase of the project will be completed in the next one week while the second face will soon be completed, as contractors are currently working at the project site to facilitate its quick completion.
He noted that aside from free transportation of farm produce and finished industrial goods to and from Lagos, a total of 32,349 passengers had also enjoyed free transportion from Lagos to Osogbo during festivities since the inception of the present administration.
Alagbada observed that the success recorded so far in the movement of passengers and goods through the rail is expected to rekindle the lost confidence in the train services.
