A total sum of 92 million naira has been committed to the procurement of drugs and medical consumables by the Aregbesola administration under its free health programme
Commissioner for Health, Dr. (Mrs.) Temitope Ilori disclosed this in Osogbo at the Quarterly Ministerial Media Conference, organized by the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
According to her, the drugs and other consumables have been distributed to all the 57 state owned health facilities, while patients, irrespective of ailment, gender or age get them free of charge.
Ilori stated that the Ministry of Health has been engaged in registration and inspection of premises of patent medicine shops to ensure that only quality drugs are circulated and dispensed to the people in the state.
She further disclosed that the Aregbesola administration has been partnering with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria through provision of personnel and logistic support to sanitize the distribution network of drugs in the state.
Dr. [Mrs] Ilori said in furtherance of the sanitization efforts of the ministry, it has collaborated with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), to organize Continuing Education Programme for licensed Patent Medicine Vendors to keep them up to date on their responsibilities and duties as vendors.
