About Bola Ilori

bolaBola started his early education at Christ Nursery & Pry. Sch, Ondo, then Jubilee Community Grammar School, Ondo. Had his higher School Certificate at Ondo Boy’s High School and wrapped it up at Anwarul-Islam College Agege, Lagos in 1988.

He joined the AKOKITE family UNILAG in 1990 to study sociology. It took no time for Bola’s political inclination which he carried over from his agitated juvenile mind at the lower classes to manifest at the University. He was elected into the faculty executive council in his first year, central students’ parliament in the second year, won election into the University of Lagos Student Union (ULSU) executive as the Welfare Secretary in his third year and Secretary General in his final year.

A courageous and determined Bola who believes in justice, fair play and compassion fright seriously against cultism in UNILAG. That epoch remain a landmark in UNILAG for welfare based and issue oriented progressive students activism. A campaign that was so massive and effective where in no life was lost. That campaign against cultism later metamorphosed into an organization called Committee for The Protection of Peoples Dignity (COPPED) with international wings in the U.S.A as well as South Africa.
Activist to the core, he once championed the cause of the indigent OKADA MEN (Commercial Motocycle riders) throughout Nigeria and was made the Secretary of the Federal Government Committee on the harmonization of OKADA unions in Nigeria which transformed to ACOMORAN in 1996.

Bola had a brief stint in broadcasting as a presenter on Eko FM from 1997-1998.

Bola Ilori manned the BAT Gubernatorial Tactical Base in the 1999 gubernatorial election that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He was once appointed to lead the Poverty Alleviation Board of the Lagos Mainland Local Government. He was a onetime Principal Legislative Aide for Lagos Central Senatorial District under Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi.

Bola Ilori became an instant hit in Nigeria when he emerged the youngest Council Boss leading the single largest political constituency in Nigeria – Alimoso Local Government of Lagos State. Driven by his political mantra of “Salus Populus Supremus Lex” {The Welfare of the People is the Paramount Law}, Bola’s tenure in Alimosho remain a landmark in booming welfare, environmental sanity, responsive government and dedication to service.

Ilori won virtually all the awards in town between 2002 & 2003. A member of the five man Lagos State team on negotiation with Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in 2003, Ilori was also the Secretary of the Lagos State local Government committee on verification of Lagos State Primary School Teachers Nominal Roll and Emoluments in 2003.

Bola joined hands with four other egg-heads under the able leadership of Engr. Rauf Aregbesola to form the now famous ORANMIYAN GROUP in 2004.

He was appointed Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Tinubu on Environmental matters in 2004 a duty he co-performed as the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) Marshall. He headed the advocacy for combating non-biodegradable waste in Lagos and was given the schedule and the plastic/Nylon waste Buy-Back Project and in the process recalled hundreds of metric tons of pure water sachets from Lagos environment for recycling.

He held this position until he opted for gubernatorial election in his State, Ondo State, where he was ranked amongst the top three out of eleven contestants in the controversial Action Congress guber primaries after which he won the ticket as AC candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial Seat.
